One great way to help the TKS students would be to help finance the after school opportunities.  TKS offers many after school programs: For grades 1-4 (Dance, Sports, Crafts); For grades 5-12 (Spanish); For grades 7-12 (Understanding and creating electronic robotics, Understanding and effectively using electronic media, Cooking, Bell Choir, and Chemistry lab and Scientific Research).  These after school educational opportunities cost $732.20 Euros/month.  We have two individuals that are graciously paying for 2/3 of the monthly costs.  We really need an individual or individuals that could agree to pick up the remaining $244 Euros/month ($287/month or $2,583/school year).  Please pray and see if the Father would have you contribute to this worthy cause.  If so, see the above information for contributing and remeber, all donations are 100% tax deductible.
No matter what may come, I know He is there to provide support and guidance to get through every challenge.  He is faithful to be there to help; I must be faithful to believe and to call on Him!

TKS-Youth Camp History from Inguna
Heavenly Father, be Lord of our lives and have complete and total control of us and our lives.  We offer You our hearts and ask You to take them for Your own use.  We submit to You Lord Jesus and we acknowledge You as our Lord and Savior.  Holy Spirit, please keep us from sinning against the Father and each other today.  Jesus, let Your government increase in our lives today and help us to abide in You.  Father, make us men and women of Your Word and of prayer.  Father set a watch over out mouths and let our tongues cleave to the roofs of our mouths if we are even tempted to say anything that is not from You or does not bring You honor and glory.  Make us like Yourself and conform is to the image of Your Son, Jesus.  Give us Godly character and Godly wisdom.  We are in great need of these attributes that You declare.  Use our lives to glorify Yourself; we freely offer You our lives to use as You wish to bring You glory and honor.  Father, we are your little children and declare our need for Your guidance, protection and grace.  We love you.  Amen and amen.
As always, we ask for and covet any comments and suggestions you may have.

Brent and Karen Cooper Start TKS Youth Camp
Each Monday, Tuesday and Friday TKS mandates participation in devotions for all students; Mondays are for grades 7-12, Tuesdays are grades 3-6 and Fridays are grades 1-2.  We are going over the Fruits of the Spirit with each month focused on one of the fruits.  For September we focused on kindness and will address goodness in October.  There were several presenters providing excellent videos, explanations and examples.  The students were encouraged to express acts of kindness both within TKS and outside.  This photo are of students from each grade that were caught exercising the lessons taught.  They are: Markuss Plancis (1st grade), Liba Petkevica (2nd grade), Marta Nalandina (3a), Matiss Plancis (3b), Karlina Supulniece (4th grade) Maria Fridrih (5th grade), Edvarts Uzulnieks (6th grade), Dita Klavina (7a), Patriks Kandis (7b), Sanija Truksane (8th grade), Henriks Bajars (9th grade), Laine Kleinhofa-Pruse (10th Grade), Marta Treimane 11th greade) and Rudis Zaurs (12th grade).  Being able to recognize them was an honor in that they are listening to the calling of the Holy Spirit.  May God richly bless these young men and women for their faithfulness!
Interview from Inguna:  The Orphan Camp was the first camp conducted by TKS and the Youth Camp came several years later.  Inguna saw as her TKS children were turning into youth and young adults, they really needed focused spiritual training in becoming a Christian and living that life.  While they were getting some spiritual training during the TKS school year she believed they needed a more focused time that would significantly impact their daily lives.  The idea for a Youth Camp began to take shape that would provide that needed impact.  She envisioned a small camp for her TKS youth - easy to handle and conduct.  However, God is not satisfied with small or easy; He had greater plans as the Youth Camp started for all youth - not just TKS youth.  This is a time for spiritual training, fellowship, relationship building, evangelism, and so much more.  It truly follows the mandates of the Great Commission and Acts 1:8 as it impacts Talsi (Jerusalem), the Talsi region (Judea), Latvia (Samaria) and other nations (ends of the earth).  This Camp is now so much more than she could have imagined!!!
Interview from Brent and Karen Cooper: Inguna approached several people about starting the Youth Camp but these commitments failed to develop or materialize.  She shared her frustration and heartache with Karen Cooper and Karen immediately agreed that she and Brent would take on this ministry.  She told Brent later that night and he readily agreed with her!  Originally, the Camp was to be a Discipleship Camp, intended for TKS students only.  However, because some of the TKS youth were evangelical, they invited friends and youth outside of TKS to come to the Camp; this included non-Christians that these TKS youth had been talking to.

September 1st each year is a special day all over Latvia.  That is the first official day of school and school administrators, teachers, students and parents gather to commemorate this special occasion.  Talsi Christian School has been celebrating this day for 23 years (My, how time flies when you are doing what you love!)  It is exciting and rewarding to see the excitement surrounding this special day.  The parents, students, teachers, staff and other dignitaries gather in the Talsi Sports Complex to bring in the new School year.  After singing and prayer Inguna introduces the new teachers to TKS and the new students.  She tells the parents and students that they will receive a highly challenging and quality education at TKS.  The students need to apply themselves as hard as the teachers apply themselves in order to benefit from these efforts.  After the festivities, Inguna leads the students, teachers and parents to the School for the official beginning of the school year.  This is a tradition that is expected and anticipated!
The 2017-2018 School Year Has Arrived!
As stated in the last newsletter, we will be providing a history of the various ministries TKS has started or is involved with. This current issue will detail the history of the TKS-YOUTH Camp.We hope and pray that you will consider becoming involved in the many TKS ministries to the people of Talsi, Latvia.  If you cannot come, please consider a tax deductible financial gift!  If you need encouragement, contact any of the many individuals that are currently or have been involved and you will be flooded with all encouragement you need.  To learn who all these people are, check out the world famous TKS Newsletter.
Just a reminder, we really need each of you to consider inviting Inguna to speak at your business, church or Sunday school  when she comes to the States in March.  You can email Mike Cummins at mgc97@sbcglobal.net to find out the specifics. You and those listening to her moving story will be touched to your very core.

Isaiah 43:18-19 tells us, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."  On September 1, 2017, the Lord is establishing a new school year and He wants all of us to recognize His great gift.  We have new teachers, students, studies, challenges and dreams.  The following is from a prayer found on the Internet that is changed to

This IS Why We Do What We DO
The Camp has continued to grow with emphasis on teaching to Christians; however, there is always an evangelical component.  In the various classes explanations on Christian matters (Salvation, Justification, Sanctification, Grace, Witnessing, etc.) are provided with explanations to the non-Christian that this is the Christian life that is expected by God.  This year the youth were from all over Latvia (Liepaja, Riga, Ventspils, etc.); in prior years, there have been youth from Estonia, Lithuania, Norway and Finland.

From a Teacher's Heart
Since its inception in 2007 Brent and Karen have recruited many, many people for participation in the Youth Camp.  Each year, in addition to Christian teaching and instruction, they made sure there was Biblical preaching to the Youth Camp participants AND in the evening to the town of Talsi.  Troy Rackliffe preached for the first five years (until he was called to serve at his current church in West Virginia) and Bryan Sloan has preached for the last seven years.  Planning for the next camp usually begins immediately after the conclusion of a current camp.  Brent, Karen, Bryan and others begin praying and asking God for His plan for the coming year.  Inguna comes to the States in the Fall and a meeting is help to determine the next year's theme and planning begins in earnest.  It should be mentioned that Janis Uplejs grew up in the TKS Youth Camps and is now a critical part in the decision making, planning and administration of the Camp.  He has been a great gift blessing from God for this ministry!

• Reach the youth of Talsi, Latvia and beyond with the Gospel message and
   solid Christian teaching;
• Reach the parents and other relatives through the Latvian youth.  There have been
numerous parents, siblings and grandparents that came to Christ through the Youth
   Camp and TKS youth participation;
• Develop future Christian businessmen, teachers, doctors, dentists, politicians, etc. that
will impact Latvia for Christ.  There are numerous new pastors, evangelists and
missionaries that have been called as result of the Youth Camps and TKS instruction.

Going back to TKS each year is an affirmation of God's plan, Inguna's dream and this ministry.  Seeing these children become youth and young adults, some with families of their own, is very affirming.  Also seeing them become leaders in TKS and in their local communities shows good seeds were planted and God is causing great growth in Talsi and Latvia.  Seeing these young men and women lead their own families in a real Christian walk is humbling and inspiring.  Many people go on mission trips each year to different places and do great work.  However, they miss many blessings by not going back to see the harvest of their efforts and God's working.  Paul and the early Christian leaders showed us how to be blessed in mission work; it causes accountability for the evangelized and the evangelist.  The list of TKS youth that have graduated and go on to impact Latvia continues to grow; many of them return to help out at the various TKS camps.  These young men and women are truly committed to Jesus, serving Him and others.  Inguna should be congratulated for pursuing her vision and her sensitivity to the Holy Spirit for the spiritual needs of her students.  Praise the Father that she listened to Him for starting TKS and these additional ministries.
I have been working at TKS since 1998 and during this period I have been a class teacher for 2 classes. Now I am a class teacher for the 10th grade. The motto of my life for many years has been Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
Being a class teacher for students, the main motivational power for me is God's love. I pray for my students and their parents every day. I am grateful to the parents of my students who support me and help to organize different class activities, sometimes they even open their homes for class gatherings.  As I start raising my students, I delegate responsibilities to them and I keep the students accountable for that. Later on I involve students in greater projects. In my lessons I talk a lot about Christian values  and lead students into practical ministries - organizing events for people with special needs, becoming leaders in our school's VBS or orphans' camps, participating in church camps and Alpha courses. I encourage them to participate and be active at students'
council of our school.
It is important to help students set goals for their lives, to learn from positive role models. Therefore I invite the graduates of our school to meet my students and share their life experience. I challenge my students to become teachers and pastors that they could share the Gospel of Christ to others.  In my work I always ask God for His guidance and wisdom to prepare students as new evangelists, church leaders or founders of new churches in Latvia and other parts of the world.Teaching christian values to

TKS teacher Aija Valgelina
Abigalia Ieva Valgelina is the daughter of Aija, the teacher who provided her "From a Teacher's Heart" expose above.  Abigalia has been attending TKS from the 1st grade and is currently in the 9th grade.  She speaks English very well and is one of TKS' student leaders.  She is heavily into sports and, of course, that is her favorite subject.  All of her spare time is involved in some aspect of sports.  From her heart, she wants her fellow students and friends to, "Be strong and never give up - In Christ, yourself or anything you set out to do."  She is also quick to disclose that her name is special.  Abigail was one of King David's wives and is presented in 1 Samuel 25.  It is quite evident that Abigail is both beautiful and a highly intelligent woman and knows that David id God's chosen.  Many Biblical scholars believe that she is the wisest of David's wives and served the important function of glorifying and validating David's kingship.  Abigalia, like the Biblical Abigail, is showing herself to be like-minded.
When Mike and Joetta moved to Latvia on March 31st 2017, Mike misunderstood the requirements for filing for residency in Latvia.  In order to remain in Latvia for longer than 6 months it is necessary that the proper papers be filed with the Latvian government and APPROVED within 6 months after initially coming to Latvia.  Mike understood the papers had to be filed within 6 months and boy was he wrong.  They needed the approval of the Latvian government by September 30th and he did not file the papers until about September 10th.  After much anguish, prayer and trips to the special government offices in Riga, God proved His ability to hear and handle this major problem.  He not only got government workers and officials to move quickly, He got them to sincerely help.  One of the greatest blessings to getting this major problem resolved was providing Maris and inguna Gruznina as His special envoys between the Cummins' and the Latvian government.  Both of them were invaluable in getting everything accomplished within the strict Latvian time frame.  Without them, we would have had to leave Latvia and our ministry for a year and try to relocate all over again.  The costs alone would have been insurmountable.   Thank you Father for Your clear indication of our calling to Latvia and for sending Your special envoys (I cannot call them angels) to help.  You are truly faithful to Your called.  We now have our residency cards for the next 5 years and, while they have to be renewed each year, we can easily handle the minor requirements.

This IS Why We Do What We DO
TKS takes the responsibility to evangelize and prepare its students for a daily walk with the Father.  Generally, on a monthly basis, TKS provides a special worship service for all students.  There, they receive worship music, Bible study and a call to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.  They are encouraged to participate in the various presentations to their classmates to strengthen their personal evangelical muscles.  Like a regular Sunday service, they take up a offering and decide a local charity to bless with the funds collected.  For this initial service, a local animal shelter.  Through these services, these children and youth are truly being changed.  God is pouring out His grace and love on all of them and using TKS to reach their "Jerusalem" as shown in the next article.

On October 15th Inguna attended a great celebration for TKS and the kingdom of God.  She witnessed the baptism of Miks Volfs and Karina Vevere.  It took place in a small small country church - Ugunciems Baptist Church.  Miks graduated TKS two years ago and Karina is a senior this year.  Miks accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on one of the Leadership Camps put on by TKS and Karina accepted Jesus in the Youth Camp a year ago.  They both clearly state they would not be Christians and followers of Christ if not for the ministry of TKS.  It is truly wonderful to see the fruit of our labor and we all thank the Father for all who have dedicated service, sacrifice and involvement in the ministry of TKS.  These two young lives have been changed for all eternity for all of your love and service to Jesus.  While you may not meet them on this side of eternity, you WILL meet them in glory and they can personally thank you for giving to the Lord.  To God be all glory, honor and praise!!!!

Almost everyone would agree that whenever one tries to work with a government for gaining approval of a new structure or approval to rehab an existing structure, this process is meant to test one's Christian walk and belief in an almighty God.  Some might even suggest that this process was specifically designed by Satan to keep the Christian occupied away from the Father.  Regardless, it is a true test of one's belief AND cause to completely depend on God.
As you know from the prior newsletters, TKS has started new school year and so far, so good - praise the Lord!  We believe that this will be another blessed year and pray that God would help us to overcome every challenge and remove every stumbling block that might come our way!
On September 6th, the architect and Inguna met with Talsi's newly elected Mayor in his office; Talsi had elections this summer and the old Mayor is not in charge anymore, though he is still one of the deputies. The name of the new Mayor is Edgars Zelderis; he is young
man in his 30ties.
I shared a very short version of my testimony and when we said good bye the Mayor admitted that he has the feeling that he got elected to the position of Mayor because it was a will of a Supreme Force (meaning... God...).  Of course, he doesn't know Jesus but he is young and... we will be neighbors!  Plenty of opportunity to talk about Jesus and His ministry through TKS.  Please keep the
Mayor in your prayers.

We presented the project to the Mayor - he really didn't know anything about it! The meeting went really well. We talked about difficulties people in the city office will face during the building process - like constant noise for several months.  He was sympathetic to our need to use and sometimes to block the road to the administrative building during the building process. etc. To make long story short, the Mayor was positive and actually impressed that in current times when public schools are closing, TKS is going to expand, that we will have elevator for handicapped and sidewalks will be marked for blind people as well.  He was most impressed that there are Christians who are willing to donate and be part of such huge investment in Talsi.

The initial phase of the project is almost finished; I have never seen such thick books of all kinds of blueprints, electric schemes, land plans etc.  During September and early October, the architect hopes to get all permissions and harmonization; then we will give plans to several building companies to negotiate the price - it will take about 2-3 weeks.  Then, the actual work will begin!  Lord, have mercy and please provide the money!
We are definitely praying Philippians 4:13 during this time.
Please continue to pray and seek God's direction in how YOU might be used to accomplish His will in this ministry.  We still need approximately $1, 000,000 and we know there are those out there who can help financially or knows someone that can.  Please note that all gifts are tax deductible if provided through the following venues:
