It seems that Summer has flown in a real whirlwind with numerous activities, like Orphan Camp, TKS-VBS Camp, Youth Camp, Dr. Bob Davis and his free Dental Clinic, Talsi Baptist Church VBS Camp, TKS Teacher's Retreat, Pastor Rex Jackson with his Boyd Baptist Church team and the Free Vision Clinic through God's Eyes International (www.godseyesinternational.com) and the annual Talsi Baptist Church Family Activity Retreat.  While all of these activities were not directly related to TKS, Inguna and numerous TKS teachers and staff attended and either lead or participated in the activities.  Further, TKS student leaders jumped in to provide greatly needed assistance and translation skills.  These student leaders were and are a significant contributing factor in making these activities a sussess!  The Heavenly Father promised His children an abundant life.  We know in John 10:10 that Jesus tells us, "The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." This Summer has been a real example of living the abundant life. Service and ministry to the local Talsi people has continued by both TKS and American Christians.  It has been a real blessing to see God working as only He can work.  These Christians portrayed 1 Timothy 6:18-19, "They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life."  The future and foundation for these servant Christians is promised by the Father Himself.  They did it all to give Him the praise and glory only He deserves and He richly rewards those who answer His call.
As stated in the last newsletter, we will be providing a history of the various ministries TKS has started or is involved with. This current issue will detail the history of the TKS-VBS Camp.We hope and pray that you will consider becoming involved in the many TKS ministries to the people of Talsi, Latvia.  If you cannot come, please consider a tax deductible financial gift!  If you need encouragement, contact any of the many individuals that are currently or have been involved and you will be flooded with all encouragement you need.  To learn who all these people are, check out the world famous TKS Newsletter.

TKS-VBS History from Inguna
This information is from an interview with Inguna as she is intimately familiar with
all TKS history.

Texas Churches Start TKS-VBS
She started to negotiate with God on this new calling.  She proposed to begin the camp for grades 1-6 and stop having the Orphan Camp.  It would be too much for her to handle three camps.  She was only one person, she was tired and the Orphan Camp has been going on for about 15 years.  She decided she would continue with the Youth Camp, start the VBS Camp and stop the Orphan Camp.   However, God had His own plans and gave her some Scripture to pray about (don't you hate it when He does that?)  According to her, "The Bible verse was actually out of context: when I was struggling with the decision to drop the Orphan camp and start VBS the last part of Luke 11:42 started buzzing in my head and heart:  You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.   Latvian translation was really clear: do the one but don' t drop the first one!   It was clear - I didn't have choice... So, I added another camp to my summer
She spoke to the Orphan Camp American leaders and they were interested in helping her on this new ministry and encouraged her to pursue God's calling.

Evija Voldraha Returns to TKS in 2017
When Inguna went to the United States in the Fall of 2010 to seek places to share her testimony on TKS and additional financial support for the School, Bo Sheridan introduced her to Pastor Mike Heim at White Oak Baptist Church.  Mike told her that his church had been praying about becoming involved in a foreign mission for over a year and twice the doors were closed for them to be involved in missions in Mexico.  Inguna spoke at his church on a Sunday night and he was convinced in his spirit that this was where they were to be involved; his church felt the same calling of the Holy Spirit.  At first, they were looking to participate in the Orphan Camp.  However, in the Spring of 2011 Inguna approached him and Burnis White with White Oak Community Church to see if they would be interested in putting on a Vacation Bible School Camp ("VBS").  Burnis White and Mike got together, along with Rhonda Wilcox with East Mountain Baptist Church and these three churches partnered together to start the TKS VBS; the first VBS was held in 2011.  The first VBS theme was "Creation to the Cross" with about 76 children involved and 20 workers.  At the end of the week, 47 decisions for the Lord had been made.  Matthew 9:35-38 is explicit in our instructions from Jesus, "Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the LORD of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
We are so very thankful that these Texas Christians answered God's call and continues to make themselves available to be used as He wills!!!
Evija taught Economics at TKS in 2014 and 2015; she has now returned for the 2017-2018 school year.   She has her Master's Degree in Economics and has been teaching for 15 years.  Evija teaches how all living experiences are tied together through economics and related in life.  She emphasizes the relationships between "needs" and "wants" and how these affect a person's life. She uses her own personal experiences and examples when teaching to show realism.  She also wants her students to fully understand the processes of banking and finance and this important impact on their individual lives.
Viktorija attended TKS for grades 1-9, attended another high school and upon graduating went to work with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Latvia.  She finished the YWAM Discipleship Training School and remained with YWAM for a year.  She then attended the University of Riga and obtained her degree in Nature Sciences.  She will be teaching Geography and Introduction to Physics and Chemistry for the middle grades.  She lives in Talsi with her husband and son.  Her dream is to see her students become excited to learn - not forced to learn.  When that is achieved, her students will soak up critical information like a sponge.  She plans to do all she can to meet her dream!

2017 TKS Teacher Retreat
Isaiah 43:18-19 tells us, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."  On September 1, 2017, the Lord is establishing a new school year and He wants all of us to recognize this great gift.  We will have new teachers, students, studies, challenges and dreams.  The following is from a prayer found on the Internet that is changed to meet our needs:
Heavenly Father, great is your faithfulness and Your steadfast love!  Your mercies are made new every morning. We don't know what is going to happen today, tomorrow or this year, but You do!  So we give this time to You.  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and energize us for Your work.  Awaken us to the wonder of Your salvation, and quicken our spirit to Your presence in our lives.  This time is Yours.  Our bodies are Yours. Our minds are Yours. Everything we are or hope for is Yours.  You will be faithful to complete the good work You have started, and as we step out into this school year, we declare Your sovereignty over every area of our lives.  We entrust ourselves to You and Your will, plan and purpose and ask that You use us however You see fit.  May You be please with us today, tomorrow and this year.  Amen.
As always, we ask for and covet any comments and suggestions you may have.
The annual TKS Teacher Retreat was held July 31-August 4, 2017 17 St Gregor's Christian Mission Center, Saldus, Latvia

TKS-VBS History from Inguna
Most of the teachers and staff attended this voluntary retreat.  The daily programs were developed to allow the participants to learn more about their Christian walk,  learn more about the Father and His attributes, fellowship with each other and have one-on-one counseling sessions with seasoned trained Christian counselors.  There were several different speakers/instructors and even one Lutheran priest, Rolands Eimanis, who developed an innovative way to exercise and is considered to be a Latvian fitness guru.  He provided a great seminar on relieving stress through exercise and had everyone on their feet! Wally Schoon, a well known Christian lecturer from Holsby Torchbearers-Sweden (www.holsby.org/about-us) provided most of the daily presentations and evening Bible studies.  He along with two female Latvian counselors provided the private counseling sessions for the TKS staff and teachers.  This four day retreat was a welcomed break from the stress of school and camps.   Mark 6:7-31 tells us that Jesus sent out 12 to minister and when they returned and reported all they had done and taught, He took them aside to a deserted place rest.  This retreat was our deserted place and the Father provided the rest!!!
This information is from an interview with Inguna as she is intimately familiar with
all TKS history.
The TKS Youth Camp had been successful and ongoing for 3-4 years.  About 2009, at the closing ceremony for that Camp Inguna was watching everyone hugging, singing and saying their final goodbyes.  It was there that God spoke to her and told her she needed to start a camp for her younger TKS children, grade 1-6.  The orphans and disadvantaged were being served along with the youth of TKS and Latvia.  Her younger children needed their own camp where they could focus on God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  They needed their own time for focused spiritual training!!!
Just a reminder, we really need each of you to consider inviting Inguna to speak at your business, church or Sunday school  when she comes to the States in March.  You can email Mike Cummins at mgc97@sbcglobal.net to find out the specifics. After a Strenuous Preparation Period for 2017, a Time to Relax
Each August brings the stressful time to plan for the School, individual classes, logistics, feeding and other needs.  Further, the School must pass the government inspection before it can open for the upcoming school year.  Therefore, all individuals: Director (Inguna) and her secretary (Daiga), the respective teachers, the maintenance staff and the kitchen staff work hard to meet all requirements and goals.  Inguna rewards them with a luncheon and time of fellowship.  She asked each person to provide a short talk about something they did for the first time this Summer and it was amazing what everyone managed to do.  The food was great as was the fellowship.

Mike and Joetta Cummins moved to Talsi in late March 2017 and have finally gotten settled in.  They prayed that God would have something for them to do to keep them busy this Summer and He provided greatly.  In fact, He decided to let them know what He meant by living the the "abundant life!"  We were blessed to participate in the Orphan Camp, The TKS-VBS Camp, the Youth Camp, the dental clinic, the Teacher Retreat, Rex Jackson kid activities and vision clinic, Talsi Baptist Church (TBC) VBS and the TBC Family Weekend.  We also got out a TKS newsletter in July and hopefully this one will go out before the end of August.  We also started teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) out of our home on Tuesdays (5:00-7:00 pm).  We are currently planning to meet with TBC ministry to discuss starting a Teen Home Team and working with TBC Sunday School.  It has been said that "Idle hand are the devil's workshop;" God made sure we did not have idle hands.  We have been so very blessed by the Father in His provision and His ability to challenge us!!
Texas Missionaries Stay Busy this Summer
Inguna's Corner
Along with Fall, comes a new school year with all of the challenges and blessings. We have talked the last several months about the need to expand to allow more children to attend TKS.  The plans are continuing and work is progressing. Recently, the below ground electric lines were moved away from the anticipated building site.  The architectural blueprints continue to be worked on and building companies will need to provide their bids.  While we have been led to believe the costs will be around $600,000 euros, we are hearing it may be closer to $800,000 euros.

We have also talked about this being a ministry started and being maintained by the Father.  We know it is His Will to expand this ministry and He continues to test us to depend on His provision.  We wake each day praying for this School, its teachers and students.  We retire for the night with praises for His many blessings and instances of provision.  He is wise, infinite, sovereign, eternal, triune, omnipotent, faithful, love, omniscient, self-sufficient, self-existent, justice, immutable, mercy, eternal, goodness, gracious and omnipresent.  He is all we need and all we have.  We must depend on Him for all He wants from us.  His will, plan and purpose are always perfect and meant to bring Him glory.

We know that 2017-2018 will be a new challenge for all associated with TKS.  I will be coming to the United States in mid-October to mid-November to provide reports to our donor churches and individuals.  We are asking all of our followers to consider seeking a speaking venue for me during this time with your church, Sunday School or business; further, I usually come also in March, therefore, I am available then also.  I am also available to meet one-on-one with individuals or businesses interested in helping TKS with a significant financial gift.  I can assure you, based on past venues, hearts will be opened and lives changed through the testimony on how God started and continues to use this ministry.

I can assure you, based on past venues, hearts will be opened and lives changed through the testimony on how God started and continues
to use this ministry.
Please continue to pray and seek God's direction in how YOU might be used to accomplish His will in this ministry.  We still need approximately $600,000 and we know there are those out there who can help financially or knows someone that can.  Please note that all gifts are tax deductible if provided through the following venues:
