Spring is HERE!!!!!
Sveicieni no Talsu Kristigas skolas (Greetings from Talsi Christian School)!!!  Spring is really trying hard to break out in Talsi while Winter is fighting hard to stay.  With Spring comes rain, change in temperature, early flowers like tulips, crocus and daffodils, budding bushes and trees and students with smiling faces.  All of God's creation is being reborn for another season and is literally preparing to shout His praises.  Soon, very soon, all will be in full bloom and splendor reminding those who believe that He is on His throne and in control of all of His creation.  Talsi Christian School, like the rest of His creation, is bursting with anticipation and excitement in this new season.  Inguna, the teachers, students and staff eagerly await what the Father plans for this beautiful time.  All are reminded of Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  There is no doubt that His plans are perfect, His will is perfect and His provision is perfect for Talsi Christian School and all who depend on Him and Him alone!

We, Mike and Joetta Cummins, first came to TKS to participate in a English Camp in 2001 and have been coming back each year since; participating in additional English Camps, Teacher Camps and Youth Camps.  In 2003 Mike told Inguna that they were being called to move to Talsi and would move here one day when the Lord indicated His perfect time.  Mike retired from his secular job in 2012, we acquired our Biblical Counseling Certification from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and, as of March 31, 2017, have moved to Talsi.  In addition to our Biblical Counselling ministry, they will participate in other activities and functions within TKS and Talsi.  We will help produce the monthly newsletter (this is the first effort), tutor students in English and teach English as a Second Language classes, lead devotional times as requested and hold Bible studies for anyone wanting to walk closer to the Father.  In our first week in TKS, with the help of Inguna and others, we have initiated opening a banking relationship (in Latvia it is a totally different process), purchased a used car, obtained Latvian telephone numbers (Mike = +371 23200723 and Joetta = +371 23200722), signed a contract for an apartment in Talsi and began to learn various Latvian sayings.  We also gave our testimony to students, teachers and staff and lead morning devotions several times.  We chose to offer our condo and car in Arlington, Texas to Lamar Baptist Church to be used for missionaries on furlough.  Therefore, we must now purchase new appliances and furniture for use in Latvia.  Needless, to say, we have been quite busy!  However, we can state without any reservations that God is so very faithful to those who answer His call.  We will be providing updates on a monthly basis as to what God is doing with our ministry.  We request prayers for our ministry that: (1) we will each morning place ourselves in the Father's hands to be used as He wills and not as we will, (2) that we recognize each day that our time is His time and (3) that everything we say and do will reflect the love and compassion of Jesus and the Father.

HE IS RISEN!!!!
On April 13, 2017, the TKS students celebrated the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in two separate worship services in the School's gym.  The first was grade 1-5 and each grade performed in singing or skits to honor Him.  It was evident that these students took this celebration seriously by the excellent quality of the performances.  There was no doubt they were performing for an audience of One - The Heavenly Father Himself.
Grades 6-12 showed up later that afternoon and continued the worship in no less enthusiasm.  They performed a skit that I have seen several times.  It is so powerful and they do it so well it brings me to literal tears of my own personal worship.  As with the younger grades, they knew they were performing for the Father and anyone else watching was in the background.  It was a true worship service for the King of kings.
TKS students know and worship from their hearts!!!!  Thank you for reminding us it is not about the Bunny Rabbit but, it is fully about the LAMB!

From a TKS Teacher's Heart
Yesterday was a very special day for TKS and for me. It was the day when the 1st grade students of the next study year and their parents were invited to school to get to know TKS. For 13 years of coming to school as a teacher this was the first time I came with my son Martins as a future school parent. I am very happy that my son will get the best education in our town and the most important thing - it will be Christian education! My family and I are very thankful to God and to all the people who pray for our school and support it! May God bless you! TCS teacher Kristine Vecberza

A TKS Student's Thoughts
Edvarts Usulnieks came to TKS as a first grader in 2011 and is now in the fifth grade.  He found TKS to be a challenge for study but likes the challenge.  He loves his studies but admits he is "not so good in sports."  He hopes to work in the computer field as a programmer after his time in school.  The one important thing he wants his friends and others to know is words are powerful and can build up or tear down.  "If you want to change me, you have to change first."  In other words, look at Matthew 7:5, "You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Inguna's Corner
Each year Inguna has to turn away students that want to attend TKS and get a Christian education because of limits on space.  After much consultation with like-minded Christians in Texas and Oklahoma, Inguna believes God is prompting her for TKS to again expand.  She thought and hoped God was through with expanding TKS with the last expansion in 2005 but, He had additional plans for this ministry.  God is again reminding her of his promise in Jeremiah 29:11 as previously cited,  If He was going to continue to bless, TKS must continue to seek His plan for this ministry and that plan apparently includes a new expansion.. It looks like He wants to expand to allow for more students to attend and come to know Him.  Provision for the first phase of this project has been provided through the 4:13 Ministries Foundation.  Pictured here is Inguna discussing the current architectural plans with the architects.  Needless to say as the old saying goes, the devil is in the details and many opportunities (some might call them problems) are presenting themselves as the planning moves forward.  Thus far, God has been faithful to address each opportunity and use it for His glory and praise.  Currently we project that we will need to raise $600,000 by September 2017 to pay for the initial phase of the expansion.  We have no fear that God will provide since this is His plan and His ministry; He has always taken care of His ministry's needs.  Please pray that His will is done "on earth as it is in heaven,"  And, if you feel His call to participate in this great adventure, please do not fail to answer His call.  HE IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE TO BLESS BEYOND OUR GREATEST EXPECTATIONS!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at this time of Easter.  His death, burial and resurrection perfected the Father's plan to bring His creation, particularly you and me, back to Him.
